People are excited about Path of Exile 2, but there's one issue that keeps coming up whenever alt characters get mentioned. Most ARPG players don't mind grinding. That's part of the deal. What wears people down is repeating the same campaign every time they want to test a new class or skill setup. That's why this level-100 campaign skip idea has caught on. It doesn't just hand out convenience. It turns it into something earned, a reward that sits on the far end of the grind, right alongside all the gear chasing and build planning that already defines the game, especially for players who spend ages thinking about things like PoE 2 Items and how they shape a fresh character path.

The catch is simple, and that's exactly why people are arguing about it. Your first character in a league has to hit level 100. Not 85. Not 90. Not even 99. Once that happens, every new character you make in that same league can skip the story and move on to the part of the game you actually want to play. Until then, no luck. If you reroll early because your starter build feels clunky, or because you found something amazing for another setup, you're going back through the campaign again. That hard cutoff makes the system feel a bit brutal, but it also gives it weight. There's no vague middle ground here, and players tend to notice systems like that straight away.

What's interesting is that this idea doesn't fully side with either camp. Players who hate replaying the story get a real path toward skipping it. At the same time, the campaign still matters because most people won't hit 100 quickly, and plenty won't hit it at all. So the story remains part of the seasonal journey instead of becoming something people bypass on day two. That's probably why the concept feels more balanced than a flat account-wide skip. It respects the time of dedicated players without turning the campaign into dead content. In a game like Path of Exile 2, where progression is supposed to feel earned, that matters more than people sometimes admit.

In practice, this would change the way a lot of people approach their first character. Instead of treating a league starter as disposable, they'd have a reason to stick with it longer and really push. That could be good for build commitment, but it could also frustrate players who enjoy experimenting early. You can already picture the situation: someone gets to level 94, gets bored, wants to swap, then remembers the campaign skip is still out of reach. That's the tension. The system rewards discipline, but it also punishes impulse. Some players will love that. Others will say it asks too much before allowing basic freedom.

Even with that friction, there's something appealing about a campaign skip that isn't free. It keeps the leveling journey meaningful, and it gives level 100 a reward that feels useful beyond bragging rights. More importantly, it creates a real sense that your first character opens the door for everything that comes after. For the players who are willing to dig in, farm hard, and map for hours, the payoff would feel substantial, especially when it means future builds can get rolling faster with the help of cheap PoE 2 Items already lined up for the next run.
